The Painted Rocks are a well-known feature of Tafraout's granite landscape. They were initially painted in 1984 by Belgian artist Jean Verame, with the assistance of the Tafraout fire brigade and 18 tonnes of blue, pink, red, and black paint. It must have been an impressive sight, but unfortunately, the colors have faded.
