The entrance to a kitchen in one of the houses in One Mile Community. 23 March 2015 Broome, Western Australia, Australia.
Overcrowded houses are a major problem in Aboriginal communities, with up to 17 people sharing a 3-bedroom house. Overcrowding leads to a wide range of problems affecting all area's of people's lives.
The photographs here are evidential of a poverty-stricken people who have long endured systemic social and historical human rights abuses.
I asked the people in One Mile 'what is it the most you need' and they said we need new houses, as almost nothing works. All is falling apart.
